Prof. Eric Huysecom was elected President of the Society of Africanist Archaeologists

Founded in March 1990 in Gainesville, at the University of Florida, the Society of Africanists Archaeologists (SAFA) gathers the researchers working on the African continent in Archaeology and Related studies. An international biennial symposium is alternatively organized in North America and in Europe. The last one, held in June-July 2016 in Toulouse, was co-organized by the Laboratory TRACES of the University of Toulouse, The Laboratory APA - GenEv of the University of Geneva, and the Africa Museum in Tervuren, and brought together around 700 people during a week.

During this symposium, Prof. Eric Huysecom was elected President of the Society of Africanist Archaeologists (SAFA).
